Exit strategy

Someone once said ‘If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going, You’ll Probably End Up Somewhere Else’. Makes sense I suppose.

This said, I didn’t get there even though I thought I knew where I was heading. Maybe one day I will, but not now.

Maybe this new God given job opportunity amongst hairdryers, curling tongs, straighteners and the like is the death knell for my career in graphic design and design management. At the moment I sense that’s not all important. What is important is being obedient to God, working conscientiously for my new employers and being able to support my family. Period.

Inspiration to Write

On 16 May 2008, I was inspired.

Had I not taken redundancy all those months ago, the idea would probably never have entered my skull, but, I had a sense that I should try to write about my experiences, the good, bad and indifferent of being out of work.

The aim has been to communicate my experiences through real events and conversations. Maybe it will entertain and motivate others in similar circumstances to press on. Thankfully I have kept a journal (of sorts) anyway.

At the time of writing (Feb 2009) there is still no final chapter, punchline or ending to my book, no fulltime job and no book publisher in sight. Meanwhile I press on in my job search – and of course write. WorkHope.
